ITALIJAAbrucai dėl labai kalnuotos teritorijos visada buvo laikomi marginaliniu regionu. Nepaisant to, pastaraisiais metais regionas stipriai pasikeitė dėl plačiai taikomų socialinių inovacijų, kurios ateina būtent iš paties regiono vietovių. Energetikos bendruomenės(Gagliano Aterno), bendruomeniniai kooperatyvai (Campo di Giove, San Vincenzo Valle Roveto) ir skaitmeninės gerovės iniciatyvos (Calascio) yra sėkmės pavyzdžiai šiame regione. Abrucai ypatingą dėmesį skiria įvairaus amžiaus žmonių sveikatai ir gerovei, įtraukiam ir tvariam ekonomikos augimui, lygioms galimybėms ir skaitmeninimui. Šiuo metu šie tikslai pasiekti tik iš dalies.
